 Dekton 1.2cm Domoos was used for the first exterior facade project in the Midwest at Porsche Design in Oakbrook, IL. When the concept to use Dekton for a rain-screen exterior cladding was discussed it seemed to be futuristic in theory and reality. This was due to the fact that this application is far from typical to our normal interior expertise and comfort zone. With a bit of trust and solid teamwork, the conception became a beautiful reality. Ventilated rain-screen facades are an application that enables a building to breathe with many benefits such as reducing moisture and the potential for mold. One of the best considerations for this method of construction is that you can use this to wrap an existing structure as a re-clad. In many cases, this application allows the insulation properties and energy savings to an existing structure as was the case with Porsche Design. The key strategic advantages to using Dekton for this application are as follows: Design: large panel format & flexibility. Performance: UV resistant, moisture resistant, non-combustible, abrasion & graffiti resistance. Accessibility: large distribution & fabrication capabilities. Ease of Use: common anchoring & hanging systems. Safety: Tested & Guaranteed. Within Porsche we were able to shine with many of these capabilities. We relied on the experience and techniques of many interior fabrication methods. We were able to use CNC fabrication for the detailed sign work as well mitered corners to wrap the columns and window returns
